Flower of Scotland Friday has one main purpose – to share what we know about things we connect with Scotland. Language, culture, jokes, history, weather, geography, famous Scots…you name it, and we can blog about it!
It was also the beginning of translating the ‘Americaneze’ into ‘British’ and ‘Scottish’. Most days people seem to stumble across the translator posts that stemmed from American bloggers’ teasing about my use of words like ‘Mum’ and ‘wee’, and my Scottish friends teasing from about my occasional use of Americanese words and phrases learned from American friends and TV shows!
What things have you learned about Scotland and Scottish culture? Share them on a Friday…
In 2009, a group of us also started the annual St Andrew’s Day Blog Carnival in honour of Scotland’s patron saint, St Andrew on November 30th.
You do not have to be a native Scot or have lived in Scotland to join in.
