Travelling Tuesday: Made in Norway or China?

I’m going to London tomorrow. Sort of. Really I’m only going to Gatwick Airport and Clapham Junction train station. I was last properly in London almost 4 years ago.

Me and my friend went to one of the big ‘parks’ in London (I think Hyde Park, but it might have been St James’ Park) and there was a big boulder with the following words written on it.

I just love (which I know I shouldn’t because it’s vandalism, and vandalism is bad and wrong) that someone wrote this on the same boulder…

Ahhh….classic British sarcasm.

Travelling Tuesday: Sunshiney Cape Byron

Sunlight didn’t exist in Edinburgh all of yesterday. Just clouds. Dark greyness. Cold. Rain. Wind.

So I think I might need to make this my desktop background once again, to remind me that sunshine really does exist. Even if it is just in beautiful Cape Byron. Ahhh.

Travelling Tuesday: Poi-ing in Polzeath

Back in my student days, my friend Liz introduced some of our Assent cell to the wonderousness of poi. Raz got addicted, I got addicted, and by the time Imagine rolled round one of my fave people from City Church, Kath had her own set of flag poi. I got a set in Australia and since then have taken poi to Imagine which has been a great tool to reach out to some of the youth on the fringes of the event.

I took it to Cornwall, onto the beach after the surfer’s blessing and the next thing you know this is going on…isn’t it good that the BrunetteKoala paparazzi was on hand again? Tee hee hee!

Baby T found the Daddies poi display mucho amusing…

IMGP0719As did me and their significant others – bring on the joy and ‘Lucy’ (Mrs Rev gor renamed when the girls informed her that she was their big sister)…and a couple from the Rev’s church who we met later that day and shared these pics from.

Who knew The State That I Am In or The Rev were closet happy clappy charismatics?!! Grace and peace to you brothers…grace and peace…because you knew this post was coming…. ;)

Travelling Tuesday: Water of Leith, Edinburgh

Since I failed to give a Flower of Scotland Friday post, here’s a Scottish Travelling Tuesday post…these pictures were taken last year when my friend Cat and I did a practice walk from Balerno to Inverleith in preparation for the Great Scottish Walk.

The lovely wee town of Padstow, on the North coast of Cornwall. Or as we like to call it ‘Padstein’ since Mr Rick Stein seems to own just about every second shop there!! lol

Travelling Tuesday: South Africa

This is one of my favourite pics on our first full day with the kids at Seed of Hope…

IMGP0135

I was trying to take pictures of kids and SITC/LOL/Oasis volunteers running under the parachute, and these 3 boys decided to take a running dive to the ground to be in a picture together.

Even now, people are asking me ‘How was South Africa?’ or ‘What was it like?’ and I still can’t explain it. I wish I could take you all there so you could see and experience it for yourselves.

Travelling Tuesday: Tyrebagger Wood, Aberdeenshire

One of the places I remember going for ‘Sunday Strolls’ when I was little, visiting family friends in Aberdeen are Tyrebagger Woods. When I got Cassie the Corsa, Tyrebagger was a really accesible place as was only about a 20 minute drive outside of the part of Aberdeen I lived in.

My friends and I enjoyed a few random trips there (most of them a little damp) but unfortunately these are the only photos I have of the place…taken on a random road trip not long after I’d finished my final ever exams at uni in February ‘06.

There is a really cool sculpture trail. Some of the sculptures are more difficult to spot, but all I think have been made out of recycled materials. My friends are not part of the sculpture – just the bison in the middle!

With love from South Africa…’for all the single ladies’

Something that is still making me and my South Africa roommate, Ruky laugh…I still vividly remember how we just stopped doing everything and stared at the TV when this came on during an advert break, and as soon as it finished we just looked at each other and burst into serious laughter!

Ahhh….Africa we miss you!

Travelling Tuesday: Portpatrick, Scotland

IMGP1973IMGP1974IMGP1979IMGP1977

2 years ago, the summer I spent unemployed after moving back to Edinburgh, I got talked into doing a short-term mission/holiday club in Stranraer. The Northern Irish of you may only know this as the place where your ferry to Scotland goes to/from!

We established ‘Club Crazy Choices‘, and Club Crazy Choices got to spend a lovely sunny afternoon in Portpatrick which was only a few miles away.

And we played crazy golf…normal golf would have been too…well…normal for us I guess! :)
